FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Frederick Police Department is investigating gunshots that were fired around 9 p.m. Thursday in Frederick.
Frederick Police said they responded to the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave at 8:58 p.m. for a report of gunshots. When they got to the scene, witnesses said they heard gunfire.
A witness also said they heard two groups having a verbal altercation just before the shots were fired.
According to witnesses, several black men were seen running from the area.
Police said based off of evidence that was recovered at the scene, all of the statements received were correct. Authorities said they have no other information about the incident at this time.
Police are still investigating this incident.
Detectives are comparing evidence in this incident to shots that were fired on Wednesday in the area of the 1100 block of Key Pkwy. Authorities do not believe the two incidents are related at this time.
