EMMITSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Troopers from the Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police responded to a two vehicle collision early Sunday morning in Frederick County, Md.
Authorities said a two vehicle crash happened around 12:04 a.m. at Motter's Station Rd. in Emmitsburg, Md. Investigation shows that the first vehicle, a 1989 Ford Truck, was on Motter's Station Rd. trying to cross the northbound US Rt. 15 lanes.
The second vehicle, a 2001 Ford Explorer was going northbound on US 15 in that area. The driver and sole occupant of vehicle one did not yield the right of way to vehicle 2 and the cars crashed, police said.
Authorities said the first vehicle had extensive drive side damage and the second vehicle had extreme front end damage. The driver of vehicle one, Charles Stambaugh, 87,was found dead on the scene, police said.
The female driver, Mary Hilton,44, and three other passengers in the second vehicle were injured and taken to the hospital.
Northbound US Rt. 15 will stay closed for the moment and a detour is set up on Motter's Station Rd. police said.
