HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) --The Traffic Enforcement Section is investigating a serious car crash that happened in Laurel Saturday evening and left one person injured.

Authorities said the crash happened in Laurel around 9:48 p.m.

Investigation shows a 2001 Pontiac Montana van was disabled on shoulder of southbound Rt. 29 in the area of Rt. 216. Police said the driver was standing on shoulder when her car was her bit by a 2007 Volvo XC90 going southbound on Rt. 29.

The Pontiac then hit the woman, pushing her into the guardrail, authorities said. Police said the driver and the single occupant of the disabled car was identified as 50-year-old Debra Watson of Silver Spring, Md.

Watson was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Police said the driver of the Volvo has been identified as 58-year-old Daniel I. Kim of Silver Spring, Md.

Kim was not injured in the accident.

Investigation shows that Kim may have been impaired by alcohol and was not driving in one lane.

Two lanes of southbound Rt. 29 were closed to traffic until 12:30 a.m. for the investigation.

The crash is still under investigation.
