COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal pedestrian collision in College Park on Friday night.
Prince George's County police say at about 10:20 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Knox Road for a pedestrian collision. They found 23-year-old Carlos Pacanins of Chevy Chase in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. He died of his injuries on Sunday, say police.
According to their investigation so far, Pacanins was trying to cross Baltimore Avenue when he was struck by a car heading northbound. Pacanins was walking in or near a crosswalk, but a "Don't Walk" signal was flashing at the time.
Investigators believe alcohol may be a factor on the part of Pacanins.
The driver remained on the scene, say police.
