WALDORF, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police in Charles County are asking for the public's help in identifying an assault suspect.

On Jan. 17, officials say the suspect entered a store in the 300 block Smallwood Drive in Waldorf, Md. and picked up a bag of Funyons and a Gatorade before approaching the clerk. When the clerk rang up the merchandise, the suspect reached across the counter and slapped the clerk several times before grabbing his items and running from the store.

Photos of the suspect were retrieved from a store surveillance camera and police are asking anyone with information to call Det. A. Celia at (301) 609-6518.
