(WUSA9) -- The Mega Millions jackpot is up to $400 million with a $224.8 million cash option.
Maryland lottery officials say If one winning ticket is sold and it's purchased in Maryland then the winner will have the choice between a 29-year annuity ($9.1 million a year after taxes) or the cash option.
If the $224.8 million cash option is chosen, the winner will have $148.93 million after taxes, say officials. The state will collect $19.67 million in tax revenue. The retailer who sells the winning ticket would receive a $100,000 bonus.
