BELTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County fire officials are investigating a fire that happened Friday at the Beltsville Agriculture Research Center.

Fire officials say a a multi-level 100 ft. by 50 ft. chicken coop was vacant at the time of the fire and no livestock were involved.

There was heavy fire throughout the cockloft of the structure, and firefighters evacuated to battle the fire from the exterior.

Fire officials said neighborhood residents should avoid contact with smoke from this fire, however there were no chemicals or hazmat involved.
