KENSINGTON, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Montgomery County Police Department needs help finding a 16-year-old Kensington teenager, who went missing on December 17, 2013.

Shayla Marie Franklin of the 11300 block of Connecticut Avenue is described as a black teenager, about five feet five inches tall, and weighs around 145 pounds, according to police.

Franklin has brown eyes and black hair, police added.

She is familiar with public transportation and is known to frequent the D.C. area, according to police.

Police and family are worried about Franklin because nobody has heard from her since her disappearance, police said.

In addition, Franklin has a medical condition that needs to be monitored, police said.
