MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A single vehicle crash that left an 82-year-old woman dead in Marriottsville on Thursday is being investigated.
The Traffic Enforcement Section said the collision happened at 5:11 p.m. on Marriottsville Road going northeast in the area of Driver Road. The 2009 Toyota Rav4 left the road and hit a tree, which cause the vehicle to turn onto its side, authorities said.
Doris Lee Johnson, 82 of the 2200 Block of Bluebird Drive in Westminster, Md. was taken to the Northwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
According to the investigation, Johnson may have suffered some type of serious medical emergency right before she lost control of her vehicle.
Authorities do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Johnson was wearing her seat belt, authorities said.
Marriottsville Road was closed to through traffic in the area until 6:30pm for the investigation and clean-up, according to authorities.
