LARGO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Prince George's Fire Department command vehicle was involved in an accident on Landover Road (Route 202) at Arena Drive on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. when firefighters were responding to a townhouse fire on the 600 block of Harry S. Truman Drive, officials said

The crash happened when the marked Chevrolet Tahoe Fire/EMS Department car, with emergency lights and siren on approached the intersection of Arena Drive. That's when a 4-door sedan collided with the EMS department car. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital, officials said.

The Paramedic Captain driving the EMS department car was unconscious after the incident. When he regained conscious at the scene, he said he had pain in his back and tingling in some extremities. He is currently at the hospital undergoing some tests. He was able to speak to the Fire Chief over the phone, officials said.

The woman driving the other car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

Southbound Route 202 and Arena Drive was closed for almost two hours. Officials are investigating the crash.
