ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police arrested a 29-year-old man for assaulting a woman and then driving off with her car late Friday night in Anne Arundel County.
The Anne Arundel County Police said they responded to a report of a carjacking that happened in the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle.
Police said, a 36-year-old woman from Glen Burnie was standing next to her car in the parking lot when a man came up to her asking for money. The victim told the man she did not have any money and he then pushed her into her vehicle.
The woman struggled with the suspect and was able to getaway from her car to call for help, according to police.
The man then fled the area in the victim's car, police said. Investigators were able to use surveillance video to identify the man.
Police found the car later in Howard County, with the help of the LoJack vehicle tracking device, authorities said.
The suspect, Isaiah Perry, 29, of the 5600 block of High Tol HI, Columbia, Md was arrested at his home, police said.
"This case highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement partnerships and state of the art security and surveillance," Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis said. "This is yet another quick case closure as well as a notice to bad guys, that we work together to come after you quickly if you commit crime in Anne Arundel County."
Perry was charged with carjacking, robbery, assault 2nd degree and motor vehicle theft, police said.
