PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted an elderly woman in her Riverdale home Friday night.
The Prince George's County Police Department said the incident happened around 9:40 p.m. in the 6100 block of 63rd Avenue.
A man broke into the victim's home, police said. The victim went to check on the noise and was then grabbed by the man, who sexually assaulted her.
Police he said fled the home after the assault.
Officers conducted an extensive neighborhood canvas, police said. A K9 team has also been helping track the suspect, police added.
Police will be in the neighborhood Saturday evening at 6 p.m. passing out flyers and to speak with people from the community.
"All sexual assaults are troubling, but for a man to target such a vulnerable member of our community is egregious. Our detectives are committed to finding and arresting this suspect," Chief Mark Magaw said.
Police said the suspect is described as a hispanic or Pacific Islander male, 20 years old and is about five feet two inches tall. He weighs around 150 pounds and has dark curly hair, police added.
