WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Sports fans may remember this video of the late Baltimore Orioles manager Earl Weaver.

In a game against the Detroit Tigers in 1980, Weaver became upset when an umpire called a balk on an Orioles pitcher. He approached the umpire on the field and started a longverbal exchange that was full of cursing.

Weaver didn't realize at the time that the umpire was wearing a microphone for a story about umpires for an evening magazine show produced at WUSA 9, saysWUSA9's Samara Martin-Ewing. Martin-Ewing, who was field producing at the time, says the daily show ran from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

The video you see here is thanks to the efforts of cameraman Rick Armstrong and audio man Tom Cheeseman, says Martin-Ewing.Our longtime editor Al Calogero helpedbleep out the curse words.

Earl Weaver died in January. Read about his career here: http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=238650
