LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- One lane will be closed in both directions of Baltimore Avenue in Laurel this weekend.
The Intercounty Connector Project will close one of two lanes in both directions along US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) between Contee Road and Muirkik Road, starting at 6 p.m. Friday through noon on Sunday, March 9, weather permitting.
Authorities said the lane closures will allow the new concrete patches to cure. The project is part of the Contract D/E of the Intercounty Connector (ICC) project.
Expect delays along Baltimore Avenue this weekend, especially on Saturday. Drivers can use I-95 to the west or MD 295 to the east as alternate routes.
There will be portable signs, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone, the State Highway Administration said.
If the weather is not good, the work will happen next weekend, March 14, 15 and 16.
The administration reminds drivers to drive cautiously and to stay alert for work crews.
