FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- An uncle is in critical condition after his nephew stabbed him multiple times, police said.
Jose Ovidio Reyes, 21, of Frederick was hiding in a bedroom when police arrived at the scene of the crime.
It happened at around 6:11 p.m. on the 400 block of Arwell Ct. on Thursday, police said.
"Det. Mike Morgan was assigned as the lead investigator in the case. The investigation revealed the suspect is the nephew of the victim. A verbal altercation occurred at the suspect's residence, a physical assault then ensued between the two. During the assault, the suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the abdomen and leg," police said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and had to undergo surgery. Police say he is in critical, but stable condition.
Reyes is charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Assault, police said.
