WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- There's some good news for panda lovers in the new year!
National Zoo officials say Bao Bao will make her public debut on January 18.
After four months of watching her grow on the Giant Panda Cam, it's finally time to see our beloved panda cub in person.
Zoo officials say the amount of time Bao Bao and mother Mei Xiang will be on exhibit each day will depend on the cub's behavior.
Visitors should not expect Bao Bao to be on exhibit for long periods of time during her first few weeks in the public.
The pandas will also have access to the den, where Bao Bao has spent much of the past few months. She may choose to spend time there instead of in public viewing areas.
Members of Friends of the National Zoo will be able to visit Bao Bao exclusively at the David M. Rubenstein Family Giant Panda Habitat from Jan. 11 to Jan. 17.
