WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Eight people which included two police officers were injured at a homecoming event outside Howard University, officials said.

The incident took place at 'Yardfest', a homecoming concert when a large crowd tried to run towards the main gate. All of the eight people suffered minor injuries, officials said.

The Washington DC Fire Fighters Association Local 36 tweeted earlier that 'mass casualty task force dispatched for multiple patients.' The location is reported to be 4th Street, NW. They also said in a tweet that 'multiple patients trampled - Use caution.'

Around 4:00 p.m., a Twitter user, @BisonHomecoming tweeted, "...And Yardfest is back on!"
