WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with an assault with the intent to commit first degree sexual abuse while armed that happened in Northwest D.C. on Saturday.
Police said the incident happened Saturday, around 11:30 p.m. when a woman was walking in the area of Oliver Street, NW and Western Avenue, NW. The suspect went up to her and pulled out a knife, police said.
The man tried to take off the woman's clothing, however was not able to. The victim then ran away, police said.
The suspect is being described as a black man in his thirties, tall and with a dark complexion.
He was wearing a dark hat, one black shoe and one white shoe at the time of the assault. He had on dark gloves, a white long sleeve button shirt, and dark pants, police said.
