WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- When we last left you in Vegas - DC Council Style - you learned that six DC City Councilmembers spent about 14-thousand of your tax dollars on a conference trip. That raised questions with DC taxpayers.
"I think it's pretty disappointing as taxpayers you want to trust the people that are spending your money are spending it in the right ways", one taxpayer told us.
But this installment might be better termed "Entourage Vegas: DC Council style"
" I don't know why City Council would need to take an entourage to Las Vegas" said Leslie Page with Citizens Against Government.
You see we uncovered there were more than just six council members who went on the trip, try 14 people, because some DC council staffers also went to that retail convention, which we found in expense sheets.
Like Charles Lindsay, special assistant to Councilman Marion Barry who racked up a bill of 24-hundred dollars. One of Lindsay's nights at the Paris Vegas cost 533 dollars.
Or Beth Webster - Director of Business Outreach - she wracked up a bigger bill $2648 -- more than 1300 dollars in hotel charges at Caesars Palace --plus an almost 800 dollar airfare and we even found a 50 dollar fee for overweight bags.
The original tab we reported for the Vegas trip for these DC Councilmembers: 14,000 dollars, now based on the public records obtained by WUSA9 the price of the trip has ballooned to 30,660 of your tax dollars.
That'd be a nice payout in Vegas but it's quite the hit for the taxpayers.
We contacted all of these people staff members and council members about our new story about the increase in the tab to the taxpayers -- and not one of them responded directly back to us.
