WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Whole Foods is forking over $800,000 in penalties for widespread pricing violations at stores in California.
State investigators found that several stores were over-charging customers by not subtracting the weight of the salad bar containers at checkout.
WUSA9 wanted to find out if the same thing was happening at Whole Foods stores in the D.C. metro area.
After independently weighing two salad-bar purchases from the Whole Foods store in Glover Park, WUSA9 concluded that the cost of the container had definitely been subtracted at checkout.
So from this one-day, one-store test, what happened in California doesn't seem to be happening here.
