RESTON, Va. (WUSA9) – Phase I of the Silver Line will open on Saturday July 26, Metro's general manager announced Monday.
Richard Sarles said on a conference call that the long-awaited start date has been a target for a while. He said he felt confident Monday to set that as a firm date.
"The five new Silver Line stations will open to customers at noon, and the first Silver Line train will depart Wiehle-Reston East, bound for Largo Town Center, at that time," said Sarles.

Phase I includes service from Reston through Tysons Corner at five new stations. The new stations include McLean, Tysons Corner, Greensboro, Spring Hill and Wiehle-Reston East.
Sarles said there is still work to be done, including obtaining Certificates of Occupancy and construction on pedestrian overpasses.
Metro will run "simulated service" for a week starting on July 20.
The second phase will extend to Dulles International Airport but is years away from completion.
