WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- A DC charter school for at-risk children, that was facing closure, will stay open for another year.

Tuesday the DC Public Charter School Board voted unanimously to keep the Options Public Charter School open through June of 2015. Most of the student body have severe disabilities or behaviorial problems.

The kids' fate was in limbo after the DC attorney general filed a lawsuit alleging financial mismanagement by the schools' leadership. WUSA9 anchor JC Hayward served as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Options and is one of the defendants in the lawsuit. Hayward has been relieved of her duties at WUSA9 pending further investigation. Hayward and the other defendants deny any wrongdoing.

The court has ordered an outside manager to continue oversight at the school.
