WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC detectives are investigating two deaths that happened in the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE Thursday.
Metropolitan Police said they received a call around 11:16 a.m. Thursday for the report of a man down. When they got to the scene they found a man unconscious and unresponsive.
Authorities said DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and determined there were no signs consistent with life.
The dead man was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, where an autopsy was done. Authorities said the cause and manner of death remain pending.
Police say the decedent has been identified as 57-year-old Robert Shafley of Northeast, D.C.
Only a short distance away police found a second man that was also unconscious and unresponsive. Authorities determined there were no signs consistent with life. An autopsy was performed on the man and the cause and manner of death also remain pending.
The man has been identified as 61-year-old Andrew Thomas. His address is unknown.
Police say the deaths could be related to hypothermia, however the final determination has yet to be made.
