WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Drivers took pictures, talked and sat around in heavy traffic Saturday due to the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.

WUSA9 Nikki Burdine talked to many drivers and people from all over the place who said they were, "just talking and taking pictures, wasting time, doing nothing!"

Most people had the same idea. Taking pictures and enjoying the view as they got closer. For first time visitors to the cherry blossoms, it was all worth it.

Even those who weren't here to see the famous blossoms got stuck.

"I went to get a hair cut for a second, I live right down the street, I thought it would take a quick second, I've been in traffic for two hours," Paul Cross says, who lives in DC.

It is hard not to get frustrated when you're stuck in the gridlock. Alternative modes of transportation were also pretty popular, walking, biking and then there's this guy, who took a raft here from Virginia.

"I was looking at the traffic weather and everything, it was a nice day, bad traffic, I have this pack raft which is an inflatable boat. I took it over from Rosalyn. The wind was blowing over in my direction, so why not?" Tyler Neely says, who arrived to the cherry blossoms via the Potomac river.
