WASHINGTON (AP) - Restaurateurs are camped outside a District of Columbia office building hoping to secure a liquor or tavern license in Georgetown.

The city's Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration at the Frank D. Reeves Municipal Center in northwest Washington will begin accepting applications for the licenses at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

City law allows only six taverns in the Georgetown Historic District. Right now there are only five.

There are currently 65 restaurants that have liquor licenses in the Georgetown area. City law allows 68.
