WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metropolitan Police Department officials have identified a man shot and killed by a police officer on the grounds of a southeast D.C. school.
MPD officials say officers responded to a report of a man with a gun on the grounds of Plummer Elementary School in the 4500 block of C Street around 10:10 Sunday night. Once on scene, police approached the armed man and ordered him to drop his weapon. The suspect refused to do so. An officer, in fear of his life, opened fire. say police.
The suspect was hit, and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police identified the suspect on Monday as 33-year-old Isaac Little of Southeast D.C.
No officers were injured in the incident.
Police recovered a weapon at the scene. The scene was cleared and streets reopened by 9 a.m. Monday.
Classes started on time at Plummer Elementary despite the ongoing investigation.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Internal Affairs Division is investigating the incident.
