WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metropolitan Police Department announced Saturday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with several carjackings and robberies that happened in the second, fourth and fifth districts on Wednesday.

Police said at around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday a woman was getting into her car in the 3700 block of Northampton Street NW, when a suspect grabbed her, threw her to the ground and stole her car. Police said the car was later found.

At 8:05 p.m. a woman was in the 3200 of Oliver Street NW, when two men punched her, knocked her to the ground, and stole her property police said.

Another incident happened at 9:35 p.m. in the 1800 block of Kearney Street NE when two men punched a man and stole his property as well.

At 9:45 p.m., also on the same day a woman was in the 3100 block of 10th Street NE, when she was approached by two suspects who sprayed her with pepper spray and then stole her belongings, police said.

A woman was in the unit block of Van Buren Street, NW around 10 p.m. when two men approached her, threatened her and stole her car as well. The car was recovered a short distance away, police said.

Police were able to arrest a juvenile male suspect on Thursday in connection with the carjackings. Authorities said he was charged with two counts of carjacking and three counts of robbery force and violence.
