WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) Did Wednesday's D-C Fire and EMS Trial Board hearing into the death of Medrick Mills violate the District's Open Meetings Act?
An attorney representing WUSA9, local TV and radio stations, along with the Washington Post, sent a letter to Fire Department leaders asking why the meeting was closed to the press and public at the last minute.
The letter argues that the meeting being closed for an undefined "cause" is plainly not sufficient.
We are asking for a better explanation, or to open the hearings when they resume tomorrow.
Medrick Mills died in January when he had a heart attack across the street from a fire station, and firefighters didn't go to help him.
