WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating the gruesome discovery of a body in the Anacostia River in southeast DC.
Metropolitan Police Department officials confirm a body was found floating in the water near Anacostia Park between the South Capitol Street and 11th Street bridges shortly after 5:00 a.m.
The body is a white male in his mid forties to early fifties. Police say he was fully clothed with no apparent trauma to the body. This is currently a death investigation.
Right now Anacostia Drive is blocked by the police activity near the 11th Street bridge.
