Seventeen couples will now be able to get married, thanks to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.
LA PLATA, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office has stepped up to help couples who can't get married at the courthouse on Friday.
Seventeen couples were supposed to get married at the Charles County Courthouse but the courthouse is closed due to weather. The Charles County Sheriff's Office, however, is open and spokesperson Diane Richardson says the marriages will now take place in the sheriff's department. According to Richardson, deputies even put up marriage decorations.
Among the the couples are two cousins who will get married back-to-back to their sweethearts.
We hope to have an update from the sheriff's office Friday afternoon.
