BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Fire said Friday afternoon a 10-year-old bicyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

Authorities said the girl was hit at Tuckerman La. and Kings Riding Way.

According to Montgomery County Police, westbound Tuckerman Lane was closed from Rockville Pike to Old Georgetown Road for investigation. It has been reopened, according to authorities.

The accident happened around 5:40 p.m.

Authorities said Saturday, the girl is in serious but stable condition.

The driver stayed on the scene after hitting the girl, authorities said. It is unclear at this point if she will face any charges.
