BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA) -- Wisconsin Avenue has reopened hours after a gas line was severed in Bethesda on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday, a third-party contractor severed a 1-and-a-half inch gas line near the intersection of Woodmont and Wisconsin Avenues, say officials.
The worker had an medical emergency or was possibly overcome by exposure to the gas, say fire officials. He was transported as a priority 1 patient but was improving in condition on the way to the hospital.
There were limited evacuations on Miller Avenue.
Wisconsin Avenue was shut down in both directions between Bradley Boulevard and Bethesda Avenue.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and Washington Gas responded to the scene.
