LINTHICUM, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County Police Department is looking for a suspect in connection with theft of copper that caused a power outage in Linthicum, Md. early Sunday morning.
Authorities said, police responded to the 700 block of Cabin Branch Lane, in Linthicum, Md. around 10 a.m. for the report of a burglary.
According to authorities, a representative from BGE said around 5:20 a.m. there was a power outage at a substation. Police said, copper wiring was missing from two high-side air break structures.
Authorities said, the theft of the copper was the reason behind the power outage. Police said, the suspect or suspects may have sustained injuries.
Police have no estimate value of the amount of copper stolen.
Area hospitals are being asked to be on the lookout for anyone seeking medical attention for extensive burn injuries caused by extreme heat and/or electricity. Anyone who was in the area of the 600 block of Camp Meade Rd South and may have witnessed a suspicious vehicle or activity or has information in connection with this burglary is urged to call the department's metal theft unit at 410-222-6003 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
