WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA 9) -- The Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department (OWL VFD), with the support of other local crews, responded to a townhouse fire Saturday night at 775 Monument Square in Woodbridge.

When crews arrived, there was heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the back of the townhouse. They entered through the front door where they contained fire on the first and second floors. It took about 10 minutes to stop the fire, which did not spread to any connected houses, according to a press release from OWL VFD.

The residents suffered minor injuries and loss of family pets. The Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire and the American Red Cross was called to help the occupants find temporary housing.
