FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Fairfax County school board voted Thursday night to make major calendar changes affecting tens of thousands of families.

Beginning during the 2014-2015 school year, Fairfax County schools will no longer have to make up days if they have 13 or fewer inclement weather days.

The board also voted 10-1 to implement full-day Mondays for elementary schools, a historic end to a four-decade-old practice.
