Polls open for Maryland primaries

Maryland voters are casting ballots Tuesday in primaries for governor, attorney general, seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and in the state's General Assembly. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be 1,605 polling places around the state. MORE

Tuesday will be a bit more humid with only a few afternoon and evening storms. The best chance for showers and T-storms is Wednesday as a cold front approaches. DC Council to vote on budget, consider 'yoga tax'

Tuesday, the D.C. Council is expected to vote on a $10.6 billion budget, but not before reviewing the controversial 'Yoga and Gym Tax.' Councilmember David Catania says he plans to offer an amendment to eliminate the proposed tax. The so-called 'Yoga Tax' would make things like gym and yoga studio memberships subject to D.C.'s sales tax of 5.75 percent. MORE

Metro Silver Line to open July 26

Phase I of the Silver Line will open on Saturday July 26, Metro's general manager announced Monday. Richard Sarles said on a conference call that the long-awaited start date has been a target for a while. Phase I includes service from Reston through Tysons Corner at five new stations. MORE

The Metropolitan Police Department needs your help finding a critical missing 11-year-old boy last seen Monday. Alphonso Horton was last seen at approximately 7 p.m. at 2534 14th Street, NE.
