OCEAN CITY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 17-year-old who was caught in a rip current and became submerged under water has died, officials said.
The incident happened by the waters in the area of 92nd Street and the beach around 2:00 p.m. 30 rescue swimmers were involved in the rescue operation. The victim was taken to the hospital where the victim was pronounced dead, officials said.
The Ocean City Beach Patrol cautions beach visitors to check in with the lifeguard on duty to learn about the current water conditions in the area.
Authorities said the 17-year-old is from Parkville, Md. The name will not be released.
