WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Washington Redskins are gearing up for the 2014 season with off-season training activities but they have time for a little fun and raising money for charity.

Tonight they did it with a Hollywood a-lister in the house. You know Matthew McConaughey from his long movie career including his Oscar winning turn in Dallas Buyers Club.

But he explains he is also a long time Redskins fan. He says, "I have been a Redskins fan since 1973 that's when I was four years old... rooting for the Indians instead of the cowboys in westerns... hamburger was my favorite food... Chris Hanburger was a linebacker, there's John Riggins and the fun bunch and here we are today."

Redskin Tight End Niles Paul was impressed with the actor's knowledge who says, "When he started naming the history I was like, he's a legit Redskins fan."

The man also known for his killer abs, spent the afternoon at Redskins practice.

Running Back Darell Young saw him on the sidelines. "I was like that's Matthew McConaughey, how to lose a guy in 10 days that's the first thing I thought."

McConaughey spent his evening with Redskins running back and movie lover Alfred Morris. They joined forces for a fundraiser at an Ashburn movie theater.

Morris said mcConaughey adds sex appeal.

"Everybody, when they were introducing him only the women were yelling for him. I was like, ok," says Morris.

Being at a theater got us to thinking: which of McConaughey's movies do the players like?

Quarterback Robert Griffin III could not pick one. "Mudd or Dallas Buyer's Club..and uh, We are Marshall is also good," said Griffin.

All proceeds from Wednesday night's event will benefit Alfred Morris' "Play 60 for all" program and Matthew McConaughey's "Just Keep Livin' Foundation."

This is the first event in the new partnership between to the two foundations.
