BELTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Beltsville man has taken to twitter for a new kidney.

46-year-old Robert Hall suffers from advanced kidney failure and gets dialysis three times a week at the DaVita dialysis center.

He is so desperate to get his life back that he has pleaded to the twitter-verse for a healthy donor with type 'O' blood. He has reached out to local anchors, baseball teams and entertainers.

"It got to the point where I got so sick I couldn't move, I couldn't walk, I couldn't eat. I was kind of desperate. I don't want to be here doing this anymore, so I figured whatever I can do to speed up the process is what I was going to do," Hall said.

He tweeted: "The world of kidney failure sucks, but I know that with the amazing people in this world, this will be a short battle. Thanks to everyone!"

And he is getting results. He says his wife had gotten actor Donnie Wahlberg to retweet his plea. The Georgetown Transplant Center even got a call after his tweets about a potential donor.

"I'm very hopeful there's so many people with so many different followers. All it takes is a few retweets and all of a sudden 10 million know you're looking for a kidney," Hall said.

Robert describes himself as a man with a "kind heart, great sense of humor and gentle spirit" who "loves animals of all kinds and enjoys taking photos."

But Robert is still in the process of getting on the National waiting list for a Kidney, something that could have been done long ago.

"A year and a half ago I was told this was going to happen, but I felt fine, I blew it off you know," Hall said.

Andrea Brown, a DaVita Facility Administrator said, "I hear that a lot. If there's not a lot of pain or immediate disability don't understand they're still sick."

So Robert is hoping Twitter will make up for lost time.
