WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Officials announced the arrest of a WMATA revenue collection technician on Monday.
Alonzo W. Price, 27 was arrested by Metro Transit Police and charged with first degree theft. He had worked for Metro since Nov. 2005. His main responsibility as a revenue collection technician was to handle the coins and cash from Metrorail vending machines, officials said.
Officials detected the alleged theft through Metro's internal controls which led to an undercover investigation, officials said.
Price has been placed on administrative leave since the arrest, officials said.
