MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WUSA9) -- A 9-year-old suffered life threatening injuries after a two-car collision in Maryland.
The accident happened around 4:33 p.m. on the 8000 block of Snouffer School Road and Woodfield Road. A 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 was travelling westbound on Snouffer School Road. A 1999 Toyota Sienna was exiting the parking lot of the Horizon Center. The Dodge Ram hit the Toyota Sienna on the driver side, according to the initial investigation.
The driver of the Dodge truck remained at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital and has since been released. Three children aged 12,11 and nine were also taken to the hospital. The 9-year old child suffered life threatening injuries and is in critical but stable condition. Two of the other children suffered minor injuries, officials said in a press release.
Officials expect the area of Woodfield Road and Snouffer School Road to reopen around 10:00 pm Friday evening, police said.
