Yellow Alert Friday, Flash Flood Watch

We start Thursday with clouds and areas of fog. With winds shifting more southerly, we should see a few breaks in the clouds but also some spotty showers later in the day. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the D.C. area Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon. We have issued a Yellow Alert for Friday for heavy rain and thunderstorms. FORECAST

Md. governor to sign transgender bill

Maryland Governor O'Malley is slated to sign several bills in Annapolis Thursday. One of them is aimed at stopping transgender discrimination. The new law prohibits discrimination in housing, employment, credit and public accommodations, but opponents say they're trying to stop the measure from taking effect in October by forcing a referendum in the November election. 9/11 Memorial Museum dedication

The museum dedicated to the memory of thousands of lives lost on 9/11 opens to victims' families Thursday. President Obama will be in Lower Manhattan on Thursday morning for the formal dedication of the 9/11 museum. Governors of both New York and New Jersey will attend, along with families of the victims. Number of homeless in DC rises 13 percent

Advocates say the number of people living on the street or in shelters in D.C. is up 13 percent from last year at more than 7,000. They blame the lack of affordable housing in the city. One in five D.C. residents spend more than half their income on rent. The official tally is at 7,750 homeless in the District. MORE

Game 6 Wizards vs. Pacers

It's Game 6 for the Wiz in the Eastern Conference semifinals! Wizards take on the Indiana Pacers Thursday night in D.C. at the Verizon Center. Tip off is at 8 p.m. Pacers lead the series 3 to 2, so it's a must win game for the Wizards. Marcin Gortat had 31 points and 16 rebounds, John Wall scored 27 points and the Wizards rode a 39-rebound advantage to a 102-79 rout of Indiana on Tuesday night. RECAP
