UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- The Prince George's County State's Attorney announced that a jury has determined that a Maryland man is criminally responsible for the second degree murder of his girlfriend.
The incident happened on August 17, 2011 when Barry Lui and his live-in girlfriend, Lan Do got into an argument. Her son was home at the time who said the argument lasted for several hours. He then said he rushed to help his mother when he found Lui sitting on top of her and his mom screaming for help, police said.
Lui then told Do's son, "Call 911, I have killed her."
Police say Do was stabbed more than 40 times.
On April 5, Lui claimed he was insane at the time he killed her but pled guilty to the second degree murder of Do. Lui's sentencing is scheduled for July 2 and prosecutors will ask that he be sentenced to 30 years, officials said.
