CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA9) -- One person had to be taken to the hospital in serious condition after a roof collapse at a home in Capitol Heights, Maryland.
The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. at the 5100 block of Cumberland Street, officials said. Contractors were working on installing an entire new roof assembly to a one-and-a-half story single family home. The new portion had shifted and collapsed, trapping an adult male contractor, officials said.
In a photo posted by officials, you can see the adult male contractor being lowered down on a stretcher. Officials were able to successfully removed him from under the debris. He was taken to the hospital with serious head and internal injuries.
It took officials around 30 minutes to rescue the victim from the roof collapse.
