WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA9)--Are you tired of computer generated phone calls? Well, there is a way to stop them. And it's free!
Aaron Foss won a challenge issued by the Federal Trade Commission to find a way to block robocalls. Nomorobo service went public in September 2013 and it has blocked more than 1.2 million robocalls. And the nice thing about the service, it doesn't block calls you want to receive such as notifications about school closings, doctor's appointments and prescription reminders, as well as weather advisories and other legal robocalls.
Consumers have long complained about these computer generated phone calls and finally help has arrived. It is simple to use and there is no charge. And you do not need caller ID.
Nomorobo uses technology already available through most phone companies. It screens all calls before they get to your phone and if it is an unwelcome robocall, a message announces that the call is being blocked.
