FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- Officials with The City of Fairfax Police Department want you to know about another telephone scam.
Officials say that the callers identify themselves as Fairfax County deputy sheriffs and tell residents that because they failed to report for jury duty they must pay a court fee or be arrested. Police want you to know that the callers are not representing the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office. Deputies do not call citizens asking for money or threatening them with arrest, say police.
If you receive a call like this one, police want you to hang up immediately and not provide any personal information.
