ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- The driver of a dump truck that struck and killed a woman in Arlington in February has been charged.
After an investigation by the Arlington County Police Department's Critical Accident Team, 33-year-old Marvin Valladares, of Manassas, Va. was issued a summons for failure to pay full time and attention in the collision that killed Jennifer Lawson on February 24 in the 5900 block of Little Falls Road.
In March, police determined that Valladares was not speeding, nor was he using Little Falls Road as a cut-through. A forensic review of his cell phone also showed he was not texting or talking on it at the time of the accident.
Valladares will be arraigned on April 18th in Arlington County court, say officials. The charge carries a penalty of up to 10 days in jail and $100 fine.
Lawson was a 39-year-old mother of three.
