BALTIMORE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Colombian man who was living in New Market, Md. had to be deported to his home country after he was found guilty of sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl, officials said.

Robert Alexis Saldarriaga-Yepes, 20, was arrested Dec. 6, 2012, on child exploitation related charges related to a 9-year-old girl. He was found guilty of 'sex abuse of a minor' and sentenced to 30 years in prison on May 20, 2013.

Saldarriaga came to the United States on Aug. 20, 2010 and attending Carroll Christian Schools in Westminster, Md.

On Sept. 12, 2013, Saldarriaga was charged as an aggravated felon and ordered to be deported to Colombia. On March 10, he was taken into ERO custody and transported to the Worcester County Detention Center pending his removal. Once in Colombia, he was turned over to Colombian law enforcement authorities by ERO officers, officials said.

Dorothy Herrera-Niles, field office director for ERO Baltimore said, "By removing child sex offenders from our streets and our country, ICE is continuing our commitment to improving public safety in our communities and for our nation's children in particular."

368,644 removals have been conducted for the fiscal year 2013, officials said.
