FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- Officials have cleared the Art and Design Building at George Mason University after a written bomb threat was discovered overnight at the Fairfax campus, according to senior communications manager Michele McDonald.

The Art and Design Building has been deemed safe and is now open. Classes in the Art and Design Building beginning at 9:00 a.m. or later will be held as scheduled, school officials announced.

McDonald tells us that precautions were taken to cordon off building, and that the investigation did not present immediate danger to the university or the community.

Officials had instructed everyone to stay away from the building and follow the directions of university police and emergency response personnel, say McDonald.

Classes scheduled at 7:30 a.m. at the building were cancelled. All other classes and events outside of building are taking place as scheduled.

If you have any information about this situation please call University Police at 703-0993-2810.
