BRENTWOOD, Md. (WUSA9) -- A driver died after he lost control of his car and it hit a pole on 38th Avenue on Wednesday night, say Prince George's County police.

The crash happened at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday after a car heading westbound on 38th Street towards Rhode Island left the roadway.

The driver was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not yet released the identity of the driver.

At this time police say speed appears to be a factor in the accident.
